It decays into the stable element Pb-206. If you were to have 10 g of U-238, after 4.5 billion years you would have 5 g of U-238 and 5 g of Pb-206. That period is called a half life. Geologists often need to know the age of material that they find. They use absolute dating methods, sometimes called numerical dating, to give rocks an actual date, or date range, in number of years. This is different to relative dating, which only puts geological events in time order. Absolute dating is expensive and time-consuming. It works best for igneous and metamorphic rocks. The following are the major methods of relative dating. Radiometric dating: This technique solely depends on the traces of radioactive isotopes found in fossils. 2020.08.31 13:47 aileen_666 he doesn’t do anything.

I ve been in a relationship (22m, 20f) for nearly than a yr. This is my first relationship. And i really love him and treats me well and gives me so much attention. However we never do anything. He hasn’t had a job for a while (he has been trying to get one), and i m a student but i pay for the groceries and everything we do but idm. I want to go out more to restaurants for do more things like go to museums which are free, or visit gardens (even though i find em boring) , even a library i d be happy with that. But we do abosolutely nothing. we ll do something once a week and he gets tired. We normally just go to his friends house once a week and that’s as much we ever do. I don’t need him to spend money on me or get me gifts or treat me i ll pay for every car, food, tickets for whatever i just want him to do something ?!!!! anything !! I ve considered just going to dinner dates by myself. i feel bad for pestering him to go out. So solo dates my be my thing. I don’t have many friends in the new city or they’ve graduated so it’s quite boring.

2020.06.19 16:37 chloeknopik The reasons why I think the dating scene for our generation is gradually turning to shit.

So first of all I'm speaking from first hand experience when I say that it appears that for some reason most people my age have decided that they don't want to engage in any form of a relationship due to trust issues, not being bothered about the effort it takes, and basically just because it's easier.
This brings me onto the first topic which I feel like plays a big role in the reason people think it's 'easier' to just be single, and that's because it simply is. People these days want casual sex and casual sex only, which is so easy to get with things like a simple tinder hookup and Netflix n chilling. This allows us to get the intamacy we really want without the strings attached... However sometimes 'friends with benefits' doesnt work out and feelings are formed from it which in turn causes sticky situations and basically people just getting hurt, which then makes them revert back to never wanting to catch feelings again. It's a vicious cycle that just seems to be never ending, and normally results in accusations of people being psycho etc. This is all because deep down people don't like to admit it but we all want to be cared for in one way or another, but in reality it seems like all people care about is the chase of getting someone and then once you've had them, the fun is over. People our age are constantly getting fucked around and never know where they stand with the person they are talking to/seeing because it seems like it's all a massive game and then when you catch feelings the game is over. How has it got this messed up? I don't know if anyone else agrees with me but I actually envy the older generations in terms of the way they used to get to know others and get into relationships.
This brings me to the next topic of why I feel like the dating scene for this generation is turning to shit, social media. Back in the day people never used to meet someone then go home and scroll through endless pictures of edited sexy girls and guys and then watch PornHub and go sleep. They didn't have any of that. They didn't have the pressures of trying to look a certain way on social media. Girls especially are constantly comparing themselves to the influencers that they see on their screens and we all know it's so unhealthy, but we do it anyway because we are addicted to this toxic lifestyle that is right at our fingertips. People are constantly hitting up others DM's and trying to get that good chat in, and sometimes it works out well and they meet and have the same vibes in real life... SOMETIMES. But the harsh truth of it is that we have all probably spoke to someone over social media and then when you meet them in real life, the vibes just don't match up and they are nothing like what you thought they would be. People everywhere are wasting valuable time talking to someone over the internet for prolonged amounts of time before actually meeting up with this person and being in their company, and everyone knows how much it sucks but we can't stop doing it. It's so easy to give yourself a certain look over social media so most of the time we are all probably just worried that the person we have been speaking to might have certain high expectations of what our personaility is like from what they have seen from our twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.
This takes me onto the next topic of expectations. In my opinion I am finding it hard to believe in 'real/true love' in this generation. I'm sure everyone can admit that they have whitnessed a relationship that looked absoultely untouchable turn into a massive shit show and a lot of the time it is down to being unfaithful on one or both sides. I know ive seen it happen one too many times, and it has me wondering why, why do people these days find it so hard to stick with one person and one person only? How can someone be in love and still want to seek attention from elsewhere? Personally I believe that the reason is because there is so much temptation everywhere and in the modern day, cheating has been so normalised when in reality it can genuinely break someone in more ways than even explainable. And as for the others who have whitnessed this from the outskirts, this will in turn give them a negative outlook on relationships anyway, even if they haven't experienced this heartbreak themselves. They have simply seen it happen to someone they are close to and do not want the same heartbroken ending for themselves, and can we blame them? Absoultely not.
I guess the point here that I'm trying to make is that we have expectations of what our relationship, and 'true love' should look like and feel from all of the perfect couples we see posted all over social media, and if our boyfriend / girlfriend doesn't match up to that then we will be questioning why that couple is doing it but we arent. However, it's time to wake up and realise that these perfect couples on social media still probably have the same issue as our close friend who's heart we saw her broken, its just that it's happening behind closed doors.
Also, a lot of the time it seems as though when a couple goes out for a meal, they are more concerned with posting their date night on Snapchat and Insta to make it look perfect, instead of actually being there present with their other half and MAKING it perfect with them. Why do we care so much what other people think of our life? Why does it matter what opinion others have of your life? We are constantly seeking approval and appreciation through our phone screens and it really does have a detrimental effect on the stabilization of the actual relationship in real life.
Overall, I guess what I'm trying to say is I can well and truly admit I am scared and worried about what the future for us is going to look like with all things above considered... And it isn't stopping, it isn't going to slow down, it is only going to carry on evolving.
In terms of being your best self and making yourself happy, we need to try our abosolute best to keep our minds clear from all of the negative things surrounding us. Don't search that person on twitter when you know for a fact you're going to see something negative they retweeted about you. Don't check who's liked their picture because you already know that bitch you hate has liked it and is trying to move in on that person. Don't message them when you're feeling weak and down and need some reassurance. YOU are the only one who can help yourself so do yourself a favour and stop looking for things that you know are going to upset you. Always try and make sure someone knows what intentions you have with them to avoid any drama in the future. I feel like everyone just needs a reminder that we are all on this ride together. Everyone can get hurt, everyone has feelings because we are human. So, if you have related to anything above then I hope you can realise we are all more similar than we think.

2019.10.27 04:13 Throwawayholypoo1985 My husband is a spy for the Canadian government and this is my story. (The Musician: Part 1.)

"What would you do if someone came to hurt our child?"
"I would rape their wife or daughter in front of them."
"What if it was a woman?"
"Women oddly do not usually hurt children. But if that was the case I would torture and rape her."
This is the story of my husband; my love, my everything. Im sorry im sharing our story Clarke but you have to understand that I have no one to talk to about any of this and im confident that if someone ever tried to hurt me for doing this; you would just kill them. I feel relatively safe in doing this.
It was hard for me to see even the little things at first. I have myself survives 3 serious car wrecks because my husband can dodge incoming traffic while driving in reverse. When we would end up in the hospital he would immediately be separated from me no matter how loud I screamed or pleaded and put in a room with armed police officers gaurding the door. He is so handsome, like are my ladies in the house? he can make me soak my shorts just by reaching out to grab my hand. Like it is next level handsome, he is 6'5 and extremely well cut due to the fact that he spends nearly 3 hours a day at the gym listening to music on his I phone which only has 4 numbers in it. Our son fell sick only 4 days ago and he was able to read the X-rays and said "He has fluid in his lungs." and the doctor was like "Oh my god! he does, how do you know that though if you don't mind me asking?" and his response was "I do mind." When we first started dating I was pretty in love (still am) and when I would go to kiss him I would just like abosolutely force my tounge into his mouth and lick his teeth. One time I noticed his back molars are very jagged; sharp even. One night when he was sleeping I opening his mouth and shined my cellphone flashlight into his mouth. Two of his back molars were hollowed out and had a shiny little film of glue over the nerve in them. I looked up back at his eyes only to see that they were open. In 2015 he was suffering of severe alcoholism. He sent himself to a rehab in Northern Saskatchewan in a town called "Loyd Minster" I think. When I visited him there was a young kid in army fatigues who was absolutely obliterated and he kept pacing around us, hovering even and Clarke was becoming visably upset. He then violently punched him in his throat in a way that looked like a fucking magic trick and held on to him as he gasped for air and whispered in his ear "Take off your fatigues right now." and he welped out "I dont have any other clothes." and his voice got even smaller and I heard him say "I am your superior and that is an order." and the kid had tears welling up in his eyes as he gazed into my husbands and said "Yes sir. Im sorry sir."This was easily the most confusing thing I had ever experienced to this point. I straight up asked his father who is a judge in the city we live in what in the holy hell what was going on and his response was "This is bigger than both of us." and I nervously laughed and said "You mean his cock? because I can attest to that." he went silent for a moment and then said "Sweetheart, I love you. You are my daughter but this is something we can't talk about." my responce was "Am I safe? is my sweet little son safe?" and he said;
"You are safer than you could ever imagine as ironic as that must seem." I asked "Are you actually even his father?" and he chuckled and said "I sure hope so." My husband is unbelievable polite and kind and I have witnessed him give a homeless couple over what looked like four thousand dollars. We never have to worry about money even though he is just "A musician." We were at a house party in mexico and we were making out in the washroom. There was a voice from outside the door; "I know you're in there." It was beyond haunting. My husband aggresivly grabbed me and threw me into the the shower stall. He started manically laughing and said "Oh man! it's been so long!" This was followed by him making another voice that sounded like a woman and he opened the door and killed 2 men infront of me. He started to lose the fight at one point because for some reason he was unscrewing the light bulbs over the mirror in the washroom. He even fell a bit and cut his hand. He shoved one of them into the last mans mouth and stomped his face in until it looked like goo or something. I was obviously horrified. It basicaly painted the dirty white tiled floor red. He opened the midicine cabinet with shacking bloody hands and took what I now belive was either a bunch of pain killers or benzos and he let out a sigh of relief, then asked in a confident voice; "You realise that it was either you or them right? What they would have done to you if I did not do that to them is worse than I want to imagine." I was greatful (are my ladies in the house yet again? what a man eh?") How I will end this first part is I will try to recount the conversation I had with him last night.
"How many people have you killed in your lifetime? 10? 20?"
Absolute silence.
"Have you ever slept with another woman while we were together?"
Absolute Silence
"Do you actually love me?"
"More than anything."
"Was 9/11 an inside job?"
Absolute silence.
"Are aliens real? have you ever met one?"
He laughs.
"Yes and no."
"Are you M16 or CIA?"
"Neither."
"What is the largest secret that you can tell me?"
"World War 3 is being planned by the American government. Russia will be their allies. Donald trump was put into office as a patsy to appropriate it. Hillary Clinton knew that she was going to lose even though she won by nearly 6 million votes."
I love my husband. I hope you do too.
You know inside your heart that this is real.
I might write more tomorrow if you guys wanna read it.

What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)

2019.01.20 15:10 Craynak_Zero Can you help me figure out what this game is?

Hello nes,
I'll get right to the point. I've been racking my and my father's brain for years trying to figure out a memory I have of a old game. Hoping this can be resolved, although this might be a bigger mystery then first thought.
Here's the details that I'm abosolutely sure of:
  1. The level of this game is on a flying pirate ship (as in wooden hull, sails, etc.)
  2. This pirate ship was the first level of this game.
  3. I am certain that it is an NES game, although full disclose I was around five when he got/rented this game.
  4. It is not a Castlevania game.
  5. At the time, the level was impossible to bet, as it was practically just walking from left to right with some jumps here and there.
  6. Upon arriving at the back, large "jet" engines could be seen built into the hull. They emitted a blue flame as they moved the ship forward.
That's all I can remember for certain. I'm unsure about other game mechanics, such as whether there was a timer or not. Also, as stated above I was around five at the time, which put me well over the release date of the SNES. Can't think of anything else to add to this post; so for now I'll just leave this. I look forward to your responses, and hope we can figure this out.

2018.04.30 05:16 t_dump Yosemite 2 day itinerary critique (easy/medium hikes, half day, staying in Bootjack)

Hi All,
My girlfriend and I are headed to Yosemite for the first time and I wanted to get some feedback on what we plan to do.
We already have lodged taken care of in Bootjack. I understand it's not the closest but it looks to be equidistant-ish from the East and South entrances and the price was right for the space. That part is already set in stone. The difficulty here is I doubt we will make it into the Valley until 10am at the earliest as this is a vacation rather than a rigorous outdoor experience.
Given we are not the most active people we are looking for some easy to moderate hikes (2-4 hour max). Here's what I've got so far:
Friday May 11th
Mariposa / East Yosemite
in between, sports bar: https://www.yelp.com/biz/hitching-post-ahwahnee?sort_by=date_desc
Oakhurst / South Yosemite
Saturday May 12th
Sunday May 13th
https://www.frommers.com/destinations/sequoia-and-kings-canyon-national-parks/suggested-itineraries
Basically it's just the Valley and Glacier Point which I think are doable in two days. I'm happy to just explore but wanted at least a basic outline of what's available and easily accessible.
I appreciate any feedback! Thank you!

2015.03.27 23:51 connosaurus Under $1000 build, preferably $800 to $900, if significant improvement, may spend more.

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
Gaming and general stuff. For games, Civ V, Cities Skylines, Skyrim, Star Citizen.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
Prefer to keep it around $800, abosolute max would be $1000 about
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Soon if able
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
This will be my first PC, I only have a laptop right now. Monitor, keyboard, and mouse dont have to be amazing, mid tier works I'm not picky.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
Boston Microcenter is accessible
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
I have an old monitor but it could die anytime now so it will be only used as a second monitor
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
No, I dont see much need to
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
If you can fit it, an SSD would be nice, but if it affects the other parts to much, it is not necessary
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
No preference, good and cheap
Do you need a copy of Windows 7 or 8.1 included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference for one or the other?
I'm not including it in my budgeting for building it
Extra info or particulars:
I'm looking just for a good build that I could upgrade as time goes on piece by piece, so it doesnt have to be amazing out of the gate

I am looking to be able to play skyrim with mods at 60fps easily and I want to be able to handle the witcher 3 when it comes out easily at high to max detail if possible. I have a preference on Nvidia cards as well.
EDIT: I TOTALLY forgot this, but im really wanting to emulate ps2 games and Wii games and such as well, I have no idea how processor heavy emulation like that is. I was under the impression they were very CPU heavy and less GPU heavy.

2013.12.02 14:45 hipsterpotato I (24/f) was dumped by (26/m). He doesn't know I had an abortion soon after. We work at the same company.

I'm so so sorry for the length of this post but it would mean SO much to me that you took out the time to read through it.
BACKGROUND. My (24/f) SO (26/m) and I had been dating ever since high school. Everyone, including us, knew we'd end up together for the rest of our lives and for that matter even got engaged 3 months before the breakup. I had a lot of family issues when I was growing up and he was my rock, always supported me and just so perfect. He was extraordinarily caring and sensitive, always present to lend a shoulder to cry on. Our relationship lasted for a rough 8 years and it was nearly perfect, bar a few non-major fights.
About three weeks after we got engaged I had to go to my native country for a wedding for roughly about 3-4 weeks (it was kind of a large family reunion kind of a thing, everyone was meeting up after 15 years, hence the really long duration). I invited him to come along too, but he had a really important assignment to work on and he had already used up all his leave for a holiday that we went on before and just couldn't find any way to come. I tried very hard, not to go but he encouraged me to leave, saying it'd be a nice way to unwind. We spent the weekend, before my trip, together. The day before I had to leave, I could see he was genuinely upset about the trip, his eyes became teary and he begged me to stay at his apartment for as long as I could. (I ended up leaving our apartment 45 minutes before our flight was supposed to leave) he dropped me off at the airport with a sad little smile on his face, we kissed for quite some time and then I left.
THE BREAKUP after I reached my native country, we texted, called, skyped, whatsapped almost every day. After a few days the communication came down a bit seeing as I was always out almost every other day and he had his assignments. However after I became a bit free, I'd initiate the conversation and he'd reply but I knew something was wrong, like way toooo wrong. He'd reply in monosyllables, not respond to any of my calls and do all the stuff that's enough to send you into panic mode. He has really scary mood swings and with all the workload, I figured he'd be really busy and decided to give him the benefit of the doubt until I get back home.
Around a week after I come back home I decide to make his favorite dinner so that he is in a light mood before I ask him what's wrong. LITERALLY spend 2 hours in the kitchen to get everything right and set it on the table when the doorbell rings. I open the door, smile and hug him, but I can feel that something is terribly wrong. I look up at his face and he's trying very hard to not look me in the eye. He kissed me on the forehead and said "So glad you're back home. What's for dinner?" With a horribly fake smile.
I'm kind of really blank at this point but I still proceed to dinner with a very puzzled mind. After dinner I sat him down and asked him what's wrong. I asked him if he needed this relationship, he said he doesn't need it but he wants it. I was kind of more confused. Then he explained, saying that the workload has increased tremendously and he's working way too hard to remain at the top, but not hard enough because he's distracted by us. He then proceeded to tell me that the 3 weeks that I wasn't there were kind of excellent for him at work because he could focus so well and yada yada yada. I kind of blanked out at this moment because I was so shocked. Here is a guy who was telling me not less than a month ago about how excited he is for our wedding.
I found the whole thing a tad bit silly because we weren't 16 anymore to get distracted and his point of "working super hard" until he could go out and get his masters degree didn't make any sense. Needless to say I kind of had to let him go because I could see that he was really not interested in the relationship AT ALL and as absurd as this sounds, it kind of looked like he fell out of love with me.
AFTER THE BREAKUP soon after the breakup I realized I was pregnant and just about died. My ex SO( let's call him Nate) was very particular about not having kids to the extent that he was planning a vasectomy for the future. I was okay with the concept because the entire concept of having someone's life dependant on you was kind of scary to me. Nevertheless I tried to initiate contact with him but he was totally unavailable. We had maintained NC ever since the moment we broke up. This would probably be an appropriate time to mention that he's got an ego and for some weird reason likes thinking that girls throw themselves at him. He also didn't tell any of our close friends that we weren't together anymore because he wanted to give the impression of not caring about the relationship. He wanted to show that it didn't affect him at all. And he was very successful in this.
So when I realized I was pregnant, I decided not to tell him for the sole purpose that I knew he would think of it as a desperate attempt to get back with him. I underwent the abortion and I felt extremely sad and the forthcoming weeks were a total mess and chaos.
Soon after I applied to the firm he was working. I mentioned to him, back when we were together, that I was going to apply at the same company but in a totally different department, if there's ever an opening because the company is just excellent. He didn't seem to have a problem with it back then. However after the breakup, I applied to the firm because there was an opening and I convinced myself that I wouldn't see him because the departments are completely different and so are the office branches. I got through, began work, and started loving it. I was trying to move on. But then I saw him. At company parties, or when he had to visit this branch to get some papers. I'd see him once about every week and it would abosolutely throw me off guard. We'd bump into each other once or twice and he'd pretend to not know me at all.
We spoke about growing old together, we were each other's first everything and now he just looks at me as if he's never met me before. Sometimes I want to shake him and tell him about the abortion, sometimes I just want to hug him so much. He seems so happy now, so unaffected by the entire breakup.
I should mention that one of my close friends who was somewhat in touch with him told me that he had been cheating on me. As to when he had been cheating on me is unclear. The girl that I was being cheated upon with, is another acquaintance of mine and my close friend sent me screenshots of the girl telling her sister how much fun she had with Nate. The sister sent my close friend the screenshots telling her to inform me and I was a royal mess after I found out.
I'll admit I'm not as crazy about him as I was before but I just want to talk to him without his big fat ego getting in the way. We ended our relationship on a totally ambiguous note and it's driving me nuts and affecting my work.
